Caldwell’s Seniors Power 3-0 Win Over Hoptown

The Caldwell County Lady Tiger volleyball team, ranked No. 1 in the 2nd Region, rolled to a victory in its season opener on Thursday.

Caldwell blitzed Hopkinsville 3-0 by scores of 25-11, 25-7, 25-12.

Caldwell recognized its seniors before the game, honoring Olivia Mitchell, Abby Griggs, Kendyll Prowell and Riley Thomas,

Mitchell finished with 17 kills and a block while Griggs had 12 kills, two blocks and seven aces. Prowell had 34 set assists while Thomas led the team with nine digs.

Mary Tays added three kills and four digs for Caldwell while Adi Sullenger had three digs and four aces. Savannah Scott added two kills.

Hopkinsville was paced by Hailey Hallmark, who recorded six kills, a block solo, a block assist, two digs and two aces. Alyssa Bearns had nine assists, two digs, two aces, a kill, a block solo and a block assist.

Lauren Watkins topped Hoptown with four digs and also had two assists. Karenna Chaudoin and Lupita Vieyra each had two kills.

Caldwell’s JVers also won their match, topping Hoptown 21-3, 21-6. Sullenger recorded 11 aces in that match.

Caldwell’s freshmen beat Hopkinsville 21-15, 21-6.

There’s more volleyball action in Princeton on Saturday. Christian County will play McCracken County in a varsity match at 10 a.m. Caldwell County’s girls will take on McCracken in varsity action at 12:30.

Hopkinsville plays again on Monday when it hosts Webster County.
