Abby Moss continued her blistering start to the high school soccer season with her second hat trick in three games to help Hopkinsville beat Lyon County 5-0 Monday at the Stadium of Champions.

Hopkinsville moved to 2-1 on the season, racking up 13 goals in its two wins.

Morgan Woosley got the Lady Tigers on the board when she found the back of the net 10 minutes into the contest.

Moss began her onslaught just two minutes later when Allison Wood fed the Hoptown junior in the middle of the field.  Moss did the rest with a goal to give Hoptown a 2-0 lead.

Just a few ticks before halftime, Gracen Givens assisted on Moss’ second goal for a 3-0 Lady Tiger lead at the break. Hoptown outshot Lyon 11-6 in the first half.

Woosley helped Moss complete the hat trick with a pass four minutes into the second half that resulted in a goal.

Moss wrapped up the scoring off Givens’ second assist of the game in the 69th minute.

While Hoptown’s offense was clicking, the Lady Tiger defense put the clamps on Lyon’s top scorers Rose Smith and Leah Schroeder.  Hoptown’s defense limited Lyon County to 10 shots in the contest.  Vy Nguyen saved five shots in the contest.

Lyon County has been outscored 22-3 in its 0-3 start to the season.  They return to action next Monday against Trigg County in a district contest.  Lyon’s Saturday contest with Todd County Central was canceled due to the Lady Rebels seeing its All-A region tourney moved to this weekend.

Hopkinsville improved to 2-1 and will play Christian County in a district showdown Tuesday at the Stadium.
