It took the UHA Blazers about 20 minutes to get things rolling in their 8th District soccer matchup against the Hopkinsville Tigers Thursday night. However, once the Blazers got rolling, there was not much the Tigers could do to stop them, as University Heights cruised to a 9-0 win.

The two teams played fairly even over the first 20 minutes of the match, as neither could find the advantage over the other. The Blazers finally broke through at the 20 minute mark when Connor Dill took the rebound of a miss from William Bryan and found the net to put UHA up 1-0.

Bryan would score the first of his four goals on the night at the 35:00 mark when he drilled a penalty kick following a Hopkinsville foul to make it 2-0. He would score again just 2 ½ minutes later when he took the ball to the center of the box and beat the goalie to make it 3-0 headed into the half.

The Blazers and Bryan kept the pressure up coming out of the half. Bryan scored his third goal of the night at the 44:00 mark to move the UHA lead out to 4-0.

Noah Shouse found the net for the Blazers from right out in front of the net at the 55:30 mark to extend the lead to 5-0. UHA then put Matthew Hauret, William Bryan, Nic Luckey, and Mason Price to blow the score out to 9-0.

On the night, the Blazers unofficially outshot the Tigers 27-11, as they kept the heat turned up on “high” over the final 60 minutes of the match.

UHA goes to 2-0 on the season with the win. Hopkinsville falls to 1-3 after their second straight loss.
