Maroons Get 7th District’s Top Seed by Besting Caldwell 10-2

Madisonville-North Hopkins claimed the No. 1 seed for the boys’ 7th District soccer tournament with a 10-2 win over the Caldwell County Tigers in a makeup match Monday night at Butler Stadium in Princeton.

Kael Knight had four goals and two assists for the Maroons, who outscored the Tigers 5-1 in each half.

Dalton Daves, Ivan Juarez and Logan Rainwater each had two goals for Madisonville.

Noah Jimenez had three assists, Tate Young two assists, and Gabe Bethel and Niko Perez one helper apiece for the Maroons.

Blake Vivrette scored both of Caldwell’s goals on penalty kicks.

Ethan Weatherspoon was fouled in the box in the first half to get the PK opportunity while Grayden Miller earned the attempt in the second half.

Madisonville is now 5-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the district. Caldwell is 2-2-2 and 1-1.

The Tigers will be the No. 2 seed for the district tournament and will face No. 3 Hopkins County Central in the lone semifinal. The winner advances to face Madisonville in the championship.

The boys’ 7th District tourney is set for Oct. 12 and 14 in Mortons Gap.
