Playing on its home course, Marshall County made the girls’ 1st Region Golf Tournament seem more like the Lady Marshals Invitational.

Marshall shot a team score of 295 to outpace runner-up Murray by a staggering 47 shots Tuesday at Calvert City Country Club.

The Lady Marshals not only had medalist Trinity Beth, a seventh grader who shot a 1-over-par 73, but three other Marshall players tied for second place just one shot back — Katie Roberts, Megan Hertter and Savannah Howell.

Marshall’s other player, Elsie Riley, finished 17th with an 88.

It’s the fourth straight regional team title for Marshall’s girls.

The Lady Marshals are headed to the state tournament next week at Bowling Green Country Club along with the next seven highest finishers at the regional tourney.

Lyon County’s Cathryn Brown was fifth overall with a 3-over-par 75 and threatened to break up Marshall’s monopoly at the top of the leaderboard.

Murray’s Mary Browder Howell was sixth at 76.

Her teammate, Claire Whitaker, and Calloway County’s Skyler Waller tied for seventh with 78s.

Graves County’s Ellie West was ninth after carding a 7-over 79 and McCracken County seventh grader Madison Glisson was 10th with an 80.

The last individual qualifier for state was Autumn Dowdy of Ballard Memorial with an 82.

Paducah St. Mary’s Ellie Roof just missed a berth at state after carding an 83.

McCracken County placed third in the team standings with a 346 while Graves County took fourth at 370.
