Christian County Sweeps Regular Season Matches With Lady Blazers

The Christian County Lady Colonels volleyball team completed a regular season sweep over the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers Tuesday night. Christian County took the match three sets to one to firm up their grip on the top seed in the 8th District. Christian County won a five set match over the Lady Blazers back on September 15th.

UHA opened with the early lead in the first set, scoring the first three points of the match to go up 3-0. The Lady Blazers were still up 9-5, when Christian County scored the next six points to go up 11-9. The lead was one that the Lady Colonels would not give up as they went on to win the set 25-19.

The Lady Blazers got off to another quick start in the 2nd set, scoring the first five points. UHA was up 11-6, when Christian County went on a 5-0 run to even things up at 11-11. The set went back and forth from there with the Lady Colonels taking the final two points of the set to win the set 25-23 and go up 2-0 in the match.

The third set was a tight battle from the very beginning as the two teams back and forth. Christian County appeared to be on the verge of a sweep, holding a 20-18. However, the Lady Blazers fought back by scoring six straight points to go up 24-20. UHA would then close out the set 25-21 to cut the match lead to two sets to one.

It appeared that the match was again headed for five sets, as UHA jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the 4th set. The UHA lead would be 19-16 when the Lady Colonels made their move. Christian County would score seven unanswered to take a 23-19 lead, and then move on to close out the set and the match 25-21.

Macy Baker led the way for Christian County with 18 kills and six aces. Chantelle Haby finished with 18 assists for the Lady Colonels. Hailey Sparks added 15 assists and four kills.

Evelyn Morales had a big night for the Lady Blazers, finishing with 11 kills. Julia Thomas added six. Beth Peebles had 18 assists and 15 digs for UHA. Sarah Peebles chipped in with four kills, 10 assists and 14 digs.

Christian County improves to 8-5 with the win, while UHA falls to 3-10 on the season.
