Cathryn Brown found herself in a position to make a run up the leaderboard at the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf Tournament, but slower greens Saturday left several of her putts short. She still managed a tie for seventh place, which put the Lyon County sophomore into the top 10 for the first time at the state level.
Brown shot a 3-over 75 in dry conditions Friday. Rainy and windy conditions Saturday made the greens a little slower. She had 11 pars and no double bogeys on Saturday and finished in style with a birdie on No. 18.
Brown improved five shots from her 12th place finish last year at the state tourney.
