Girls’ District Soccer Championships to be Decided

Girls’ district champions will be crowned across the area over the next couple of nights as we moved towards regional tournament play next week. Championship games will be played in the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 13th districts.

In the 5th District, Trigg County and Lyon County will meet Thursday evening in Marion. The Lady Lyons swept a pair of regular season meetings from the Lady Wildcats, both by 3-0 scores. The match is set for 6pm at the Marion City Park.

The 6th District title will be decided Wednesday night. Henderson County and Webster County will match up Wednesday evening at 6:00. The Lady Colonels rolled to a 10-0 win over the Lady Trojans earlier in the season.

In the 7th District, upstart Caldwell County, the top seed in the district, will take on Madisonville-North Hopkins Thursday night at 6:00 at Hopkins County Central. The Lady Tigers beat the Lady Maroons in penalty kicks on October 3rd.

The 8th District girls’ championship match will have top seeded University Heights taking on Christian County at Givens Field. The Lady Blazers won the regular season contest between the two teams 8-2. The match starts Thursday at 5:00pm.

In the 13th District, Logan County will battle Franklin-Simpson in the title game Thursday at 5:30pm. The Lady Cougars got past the Lady Wildcats 7-2 in their match back on September 26.
