Region tournament favorites University Heights Academy and Henderson County have drawn into the same bracket for the Girls’ Second Region Soccer Tournament that begins Monday in Henderson.

The Lady Colonels (6-1) will play Caldwell County (6-5-1) in Monday’s opener at 5:30. The teams did not meet in 2020, but Henderson grabbed a pair of 3-0 wins over the Lady Tigers in 2019.

At 8 pm, UHA (7-2-2) will play Lyon County in a rematch of their All A Classic Region Tournament contest won by the Lady Blazers 7-1.

The matchup sets up a potential semifinal matchup between Henderson County and UHA for a sixth straight year.  Henderson County has ended UHA’s season each of the last five years on its way to winning the region title each year.

On Tuesday at 5:30, Trigg County (7-3-1) will play Webster County (2-3-1). The teams did not meet in 2020 but have region tournament history.  Trigg’s only three wins in region tournament play came against Webster in 2013, 2014, and 2017.

Tuesday’s 8 pm nightcap has Madisonville (6-6-2) squaring off against Christian County (3-8-1). Madisonville won the Sept. 21 meeting between the schools 8-1.  The Lady Colonels are in the region tourney for the second time in three seasons and will be looking for their first tourney win in over two decades.

The Lady Maroons have won first-round games each of the past two seasons.

The semifinals will be played Wednesday at 5:30 and 8.  The championship match will be Thursday at 6 pm.

There will be no advanced ticket sales for the region tournament with each team allotted 54 tickets. Tickets will be $7 each. A list of fans will be provided for entry into the game.  Fans and players of the first game will not be allowed to stay for the second game each night.  Fans are also encouraged to bring lawn chairs to help practice social distancing.  Masks will be required.
