One week after setting a new school record, Hopkinsville’s Chase Atkins just missed beating his time as the Tiger senior finished fourth Saturday at the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Meet of Champions.

The meet was run at the Bourbon County Park, site of this year’s state cross country meet.  Atkins covered the 3.1-mile course in a time of 15:44, eight seconds off his school-record time set last week in Owensboro.

Atkins was 27 seconds behind the winner of the Class 3A race, St. Xavier’s Nolan Hester.

Chance Jones and Quinn Miller both turned in personal best times Saturday. Jones finished 20th in 17:22, and Miller was 24th in 17:45.

Ross Binkley finished 43rd in 18:42, and Jonathan Bridges was 63rd in 22:30.

As a team, Hopkinsville was sixth with 145 points.  St. Xavier had six runners in the top 12 and won with a team score of 33.
