Lillie Carman had two goals and an assist as Madisonville-North Hopkins earned a trip to the 2nd Region championship match.

Carman helped the Lady Maroons turn back Trigg County 4-1 in Wednesday’s semifinals in Henderson.

Madisonville (8-6-2) will take on five-time defending champion Henderson County (8-1) in the regional final at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Trigg (8-4-1) kept the semifinal match with the Lady Maroons scoreless for most of the first half, but a pair of goals just before the break gave Madisonville the upper hand.

Raelynn Blanford scored on a rebound in the 35th minute to break the ice.

Carman netted her first goal just over a minute later to make it a 2-0 ballgame.

Carman’s second tally came in the 48th minute to extend Madisonville’s lead to 3-0.

Kara Southwood scored on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute to break up the shutout and keep Trigg’s hopes alive.

But Madisonville answered that goal in the 60th minute.

Kylee Coyle scored off an assist from Carman to give the Lady Maroons a 4-1 advantage.

Trigg had won its last six matches entering the semifinal contest.

Madisonville has now won four straight matches while Henderson has claimed eight straight.
