Regional tournament play in high school volleyball is set to get underway across the state this evening. For the 2nd Region, there is a change as action starts Monday night. In a response to the ongoing pandemic, 2nd Region play will begin Monday night on the home courts of the four district winners. The tournament will then move Tuesday night to Christian County High School, with the finals to be played at Christian County on Wednesday night.

In Monday night’s action, 5th District champion Crittenden County will host 8th District runner-up Christian County. The two teams met twice during the regular season, with Christian County winning both matches, once in four sets and once in five sets. The Lady Colonels, who played the 8th District championship match with just six players in uniform, expect to have players returning for the regional tournament.

6th District champs Webster County will host 5th District runner-up Livingston Central. The two teams met just 10 days ago, with the Lady Trojans cruising to a three set win. Webster County picked up the 6th District title when Henderson County was unable to play the match due to being in quarantine.

7th District champion Caldwell County will get those Henderson County Lady Colonels in a regional quarterfinal match Monday night. The two teams met back on October 6 with Henderson County coming away with a straight set win. The Lady Colonels have not been on the court since October 10.

8th District winner University Heights will host 7th District runner-up Madisonville-North Hopkins at Blazer Gym. The two teams have met twice on the season, with the Lady Maroons winning both in five sets.

All first round matches are set for 6:00pm Monday evening.

Over in the 4th Region, the Todd County Central Lady Rebels travel to Russell County High School where they will take on the Greenwood Lady Gators in the first round of the 4th Region volleyball tournament. That match starts Monday at 5:30.
