KHSAA state golf champion Macey Brown has been named the Region 2 Player of the Year by the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association.
Brown won the region title on her way to becoming the first Owensboro girls’ golfer since 1969 to win the state title.
She highlights the eight-player All-Region Team that includes Kaitlyn Zieba, Kat Weir, and Karra Tucker of Madisonville; Cate Blane and Anna Fort of Hopkinsville; Holly Holton of Daviess County; and Abby Bahnick of Owensboro Catholic.
Apollo’s Jarrod Carter and Madisonville’s Sam Westfall were both named Region 2 Coach of the Year.
The awards are voted on by member coaches in their own region. The Region Player of the Year is chosen by coaches votes from among the top three players in the region based on the All-State points list from the conclusion of the season.
The Region Coach of the Year is chosen from among all member coaches for that season.
