It is another decision that does not bode well for the high school basketball season starting on time. During its meeting Monday night, the Henderson County Board of Education voted to suspend preparations for winter sports and other activities until at least early December.
According to a report from the Henderson Gleaner, the decision puts a stop to practices and competitions for the time being for the 2nd Region school, except for the fall sport athletes that are in postseason competition.
The Gleaner report goes on to note that board officials stated that Henderson County is not canceling winter sports, just putting them on hold.
Henderson County joins a growing list of school systems making the decision to suspend preparations for winter sports, and delay the start of the season.
The high school basketball season is tentatively set to start Monday night.
