A cold shooting night spelled doom for Heritage Christian Academy as the Lady Warriors opened the 2020-21 basketball season with a 70-13 loss at Clarksville Christian Monday.
The Lady Warriors hit just 5-of-34 shots in the game for 14-percent. The Lady Centurions hit 31-of-56 for 55-percent.
Clarksville Christian, coached by former NBA player and Austin Peay Hall of Famer Trenton Hassell, only dressed six players. They were missing four players due to COVID-19 protocols.
One of the players that dressed was junior Alyssa Davis who scored 30 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and had four steals for the Lady Centurions. Hassell’s daughter Lauren, a 6-foot-1 sixth-grader, had 12 points and seven rebounds. Caroline Watts also had 14 points for CCHS.
Despite having a size disadvantage, Heritage Christian held their own on the glass, getting outrebounded 27-25.
Hallie Zieg led Heritage Christian with eight points and 13 rebounds. Kinley Deason and Tori Sutton both scored two points for HCA.
The Lady Warriors [0-1] will return to action Dec. 4-5 when they host the KCAA Holiday Classic.
