Like most athletes in the Class of 2021, Kaelyn Conger’s recruiting process was rocked by the coronavirus that canceled her 2020 softball season.

The Lyon County senior remained strong in her faith and chose Quincy University to continue her softball career. On Tuesday, she officially signed with the Illinois school at Lee S. Jones Park.

Conger celebrated her signing with teammates Calista Collins, who signed with Rutgers University, and Sydney Melton who signed with Southeast Missouri.

As a sophomore, Conger hit .321 with five home runs and 34 runs batted in. 21 of her 34 hits went for extra bases. In the circle, she was 11-3 with a 3.22 ERA and two saves. She struck out 105 batters in 100 innings as the Lady Lyons won the district title and advanced to the Second Region championship game.

Conger pitched a no-hitter against Trigg County in the 2019 district championship game.  She didn’t walk a batter and struck out eight. She retired the first ten batters and after a fielding error, retired the final 14 batters she faced.

Quincy is an NCAA Division II school that competes in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
