Since Keion Brooks Jr. still has not been cleared to play — and obviously Kentucky is missing him more than I think most imagined — I decided to take a look back at a preseason interview with him.

I had forgotten that if he was not a basketball player he would want to be an actor.

“I would love to be an actor. It’s just something I have always kind of been interested in. It looks fun, but I know it is extremely hard,” said Brooks.

What would be his dream acting job?

“I would be a comedic actor or where they are paying good money. Anywhere to get my foot in the door,” Brooks said.

He said Denzel Washington is the greatest actor of all time in his opinion but he has a lot of favorites or actors he likes.

“The right day I might watch four or five movies in a day,” the UK sophomore said.

Brooks also confirmed that he was a prolific reader. He says his dad still tells a story about a reading test he took in the fourth grade.

“I am in there with all my classmates taking the test. Slowly but surely the others go out to recess or stuff,” Brooks remembered. “I am the last one in there. About an hour and a half later I finally realized I am getting too many answers right so they keep giving me questions. I started to get some wrong on purpose. I was tired of taking tests and wanted to be outside with my friends.”

He says he has a “business mindset” that will influence what he reads.

“Whenever I find myself bored I take up a book and read to keep my mind healthy and strong,” Brooks said.
