University Heights Academy cross country record holder Tomas Duncan was named the Area 1 Class A Runner of the Year by the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Tomas, a senior, finished in the top-five of seven of the eight invitationals he entered in 2020. His time of 16:06 in winning the KTCCCA Meet of Champions on Oct. 17 set a new school record.
In addition to winning the Warren East Invitational, Duncan won the region title for the fourth straight year. He finished fourth at the Class 1A State Meet for the second straight year, marking the best finish ever for a Blazer runner.
Tomas was also named 1st Team All-Area that covers all three classes and was named to the Class 1A All-Area Team.
Meanwhile, Tobias Duncan was named 2nd Team All-Area for all classes and Class A All-Area. Tobias had the highest finish at the state meet for a middle schooler with a 16th place finish at the Class 1A State Meet.
Tobias also finished second to his brother Tomas at the region meet for the second straight year.
