Seven Caldwell County Tigers have earned a spot on the 2020 All-WKC Football Team, which was announced on Thursday.

Four Tigers were named to the All-WKC First Team.

Senior Russ Beshear was selected at quarterback after passing for 1,346 yards and 14 touchdowns this season with only five interceptions. He completed over 60 percent of his pass attempts. Beshear also ran for 193 yards and four TDs.

One of Beshear’s favorite targets, senior wide receiver Baron Wells, is also a first-team selection. Wells caught a team-high 37 passes for 570 yards and five touchdowns this year. He also had three return touchdowns — one on an interception, a fumble and a kickoff.

Junior kicker Blake Vivrette was also chosen to the All-WKC First Team. Vivrette hit 26 of his 28 extra-point attempts this season and was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals. He also helped pin opponents deep with his kickoffs.

Caldwell’s only first-team pick on the defensive side of the football was senior linebacker Tate VanHooser. VanHooser recorded 20 tackles this season and returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown.

Three other Tigers were selected to the Class 2A All-WKC Team. They are senior wide receiver Tripp Branch, senior center Dalton Haney and junior defensive lineman Elijah Shaheen.

Branch had 20 receptions for 334 yards and four touchdowns.

Haney anchored an offensive line that helped Caldwell average almost 34 points a game.

Shaheen was Caldwell’s leading tackler with 50 stops, including nine tackles for loss.

The Tigers finished the 2020 season with a 3-4 record, but three of those losses were in contests that came down to the final play.

The All-WKC Team is voted on by conference coaches.
