Hopkinsville’s record-setting receiver Reece Jesse announced Saturday that he intends to continue his football career at the University of Louisville.

The 6-foot-3 receiver held over a dozen offers from Division I schools for football including Kentucky, Missouri, and Tennessee in the SEC.  Purdue and West Virginia, a pair of Power 5 schools with coaching connections to the Bluegrass State, had also offered a scholarship.

Jesse was voted Second Team All-State by the Louisville Courier-Journal as voted on by the coaches statewide and was named All-State by the Lexington Herald-Leader.

In a COVID-shortened season, Jesse had 36 catches for 745 yards and seven touchdowns for Hopkinsville in 2020 as the Tigers advanced to the Class 4A semifinals.

For his Hoptown career, Jesse owns the school records for catches (119), yards (2,411), and touchdowns (24).

Jesse was also named to the inaugural 33-player Kentucky Sports Radio All-State Team.
