Lead Gets Away from Lady Maroons in Loss to Owensboro Catholic

After trailing at the half, the Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces finished with a strong sixteen minutes of play to remain unbeaten and pick up a road win at Madisonville-North Hopkins Thursday night. Madisonville led Catholic by nine points at the break, only to see the Lady Aces come battling back to take a 58-50 win.

Madisonville, which had to wait until this week to get its season rolling due to COVID protocols, took a 15-11 lead after the opening quarter. The Lady Maroons would extend that lead to 32-23 at the break with a 12-4 run to end the half.

The Lady Aces opened the 2nd half with a 9-0 run to even things up at 32-32. By the end of the quarter, O-Cath had moved to the lead at 41-37.

The offensive struggles continued for the Lady Maroons coming out of the gate in the 4th quarter, as Catholic pulled out to a 52-39 lead. Madisonville would close to within five points, but the rally would run out of steam as the Lady Aces held on for the eight point win.

Madisonville was led by Kara Franklin with 12 points. 8th grader Riley Sword added 11 for the Lady Maroons.
