If Henderson County was supposed to be a test for Lyon County, the Lyons passed with flying colors.

Lyon continued one of the best starts in school history by leading Henderson by double figures for much of the night while claiming a 75-59 decision Saturday at Jason White Gymnasium in Eddyville.

Henderson (5-4) was within 25-22 after one quarter.

But Lyon (10-0), which is ranked No. 1 in the 2nd Region by most observers, built a 42-32 lead by halftime.

The margin rarely dipped below double figures in the second half. Lyon led 59-48 through three quarters on the way to the 16-point triumph.

It was another balanced attack on the offensive end for the Lyons.

Travis Perry led the way with 21 points while Jackson Shoulders had 15 points and nine rebounds. Gunnar Bingham and Brady Shoulders each had 11. Jack Reddick just missed scoring in double figures with nine.

The visiting Colonels got 16 points from Noah Curry, 12 from William Bird and 10 from Eli Wilkes.

Lyon was 21 of 26 at the free throw line while Henderson was five of six.

It was Lyon’s first win ever against Henderson County, which is the largest school in the 2nd Region and one of the largest in the state. The Lyons had been 0-6.
