Lyon County was held to its lowest point total of the season as Owensboro Catholic ended the Lyons’ school-record, season-opening winning streak.

Lyon took a 14-0 record to the Sportscenter in Owensboro, but fell to the 3rd Region Aces 71-47 Monday night.

Owensboro Catholic (10-3) led wire-to-wire, holding the Lyons to just four first-half field goals while building a 32-15 lead at halftime.

Lyon was as close as 51-37 through three quarters but could not make a run at the Aces in the final frame.

Lyon played its third-straight game without junior big man Jackson Shoulders, who is expected back for the state All A Classic next week.

Travis Perry was held to just 13 points — less than half his 28 points a contest.

Gunnar Bingham had 12 points for Lyon while Jack Reddick had nine.

Owensboro Catholic had five players score in double figures, led by a 19-point effort by Gray Weaver. Brian Griffith and Sam McFarland each had 15. Ji Webb added 11 and Parker Gray 10.

With a home date against Union County on Tuesday already canceled, Lyon is now off until the All A Classic state tourney in Richmond.

The Lyons will face Kentucky Country Day next Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 17, in a first-round contest.
