It is usually hard to win a basketball game if your offense struggles to find the basket. The Webster County Lady Trojans had their best scoring defensive performance of the season Monday night as they picked up a 55-28 road win at Christian County. The win marked the fourth in the last five games for the Lady Trojans.

Webster County took control of the game from the opening inbounds play. The Lady Trojans used a pair of early 7-0 runs to take a 14-2 lead. The Lady Colonels would then get no closer than 11 points for the rest of the game. Webster County would lead 21-6 after the opening eight minutes.

The Lady Trojan defense would continue to keep the clamps on in the second quarter. Webster County limited Christian County to two field goals as they extended the lead to 34-10 at the half.

Christian County had its best offensive quarter in the third, but Webster County’s offense was still able to increase the lead. The quarter ended with the Lady Trojans up 52-20.

A 3-pointer to open the final quarter by Brooklyn Clark set the running clock into motion for the final minutes of the game. Christian County would hold Webster County to only that 3-pointer, but the Lady Trojans were able to roll on out to the 27 point win.

Amari Brown led Christian County with 9 points, all of them coming in the second half of play. Anaysia Bagwell added seven for the Lady Colonels.
