Derrin Boyd pumped in 22 points but his Georgetown Tigers fell short in a 70-65 setback at Martin Methodist College on Saturday.

The former Caldwell County standout was 8-for-8 at the free throw line while also grabbing two rebounds, dishing out a pair of assists and recording one steal.

Georgetown trailed by 10 with less than 2:30 to play. But a 3-pointer by Boyd helped the Tigers get to within three points late. However, Martin Methodist made eight-of-10 free throws over the final 1:18 to fend off the rally.

The RedHawks (15-8, 11-8 Mid-South Conference) picked up their first ever series win over the Tigers (15-5, 12-5).

Boyd and Georgetown will stay on the road and play Freed-Hardeman University on Monday before finishing regular-season play at home on Feb. 18 and Feb. 20.
