Counting today’s game at Tennessee, Kentucky has four games left on the schedule. The Cats are slated to host Texas A&M Tuesday and Florida on Feb. 27 before playing at Mississippi on March 2. Even if the Cats win all four games, that would leave them at 11-13 going into the SEC Tournament unless games postponed and/or canceled can be added between the Ole Miss game and the start of SEC tourney play on March 10.

Kentucky had a game with South Carolina postponed on December 29 because of COVID-19 issues at South Carolina. The Cats had a game with Texas canceled on January 30.

Kentucky coach John Calipari said Friday UK “could” reschedule a game or two depending on what direction the Southeastern Conference decides to take the week before the conference tournament.

“We only have one league game to make up, and I don’t know,” Calipari said. “What I might do is if they’re saying we’re not making up that game based on seeding like they’ll make it -– South Carolina has missed a lot of games. So, they can’t play five games, four games in a week.

“So which games are the most important that they make up for the (conference tournament) seeding? Whatever that is and if we’re not one of them, we have a week (with no games scheduled).”

If that is the scenario, Calipari said he would try to schedule a “couple of games” and it might not be that hard to do.

“I’ve had a couple of athletic director friends of mine who are at mid-majors that have said, ‘Hey if you want to play us, let us know.’ So that’s a possibility,” the UK coach said.
