Lady Rockets ‘Guess-ing’ Game Too Much for Lady Lyons

Guess who had a big night to lead the Crittenden County Lady Rockets past the Lyon County Lady Lyons Tuesday night in Marion. Come on now, just take a “Guess.” Crittenden County sophomore Taylor Guess racked up 37 points as the Lady Rockets got past the Lady Lyons for the third time this season, this time by a 68-59 margin.

Guess came out firing from the opening inbounds play, scoring 15 points in the first quarter, as the Lady Rockets outscored Lyon County 25-20 in the first eight minutes of the game. Calista Collins battled to keep the Lady Lyons within striking distance, scoring 12 points in the quarter.

After scorching the nets in the first quarter, both teams settled down a bit in the second. Guess scored all of the Crittenden County points in the second quarter as the Lady Rockets took a 33-30 lead into the break.

The Lady Rockets took control of the game in the third quarter as their offense ramped back up. Guess got help from Nahla Woodward as Crittenden County extended the lead to 56-45.

Calista Collins and Rose Smith tried to lead a last quarter comeback for the Lady Lyons. However, Crittenden County was able to knock down enough free throws to hold on for the nine-point win.

Calista Collins paced the Lyon County effort with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Rose Smith chipped in with 17 points.

The Lady Rockets’ Taylor Guess topped all scorers with 37. Nahla Woodward added 20 for Crittenden County.

The Lady Lyons fall to 11-5, while Crittenden County improves to 11-3.
