Lady Wildcats Can’t Sustain Quick Start in Loss at Union County

Trigg County couldn’t sustain an early lead and struggled to score in the second half of a 52-43 loss at Union County Friday.

The Lady Wildcats jumped out to a 14-2 lead as Marleigh Reynolds scored six of her nine points in the first eight minutes.

Union County was able to right the ship as Madison Morris scored six of her game-high 15 points in the second quarter to get the Bravettes to within 27-22 at halftime.

Jralee Roberson had a big second half for Union County, scoring 12 of her 14 points after intermission. Reese Hagan also knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the second half to help Union extend its lead.

Trigg County was bothered by Union County’s press, helping account for most of the Lady Wildcats’ 19 turnovers in the contest.

Trigg was outscored 30-16 in the second half.

Olivia Noffsinger led the Lady Wildcats in scoring with 10 points.  Adri Phillips managed just one field goal but hit 7 of 10 free throws to finish with nine points, and Kara Hyde came off the bench to score seven.

Freshman Amelia Mackey joined Morris and Roberson in double figures with 12 points.

Trigg County was denied its first three-game winning streak over Union County and its first win in Morganfield in 29 years.

Trigg County will host Lyon County Monday for Senior Night at Wildcat Gym.
