Katie Van Hooser Gets Back to Volleyball Action at Bethel

Caldwell County product Katie Van Hooser and her Bethel University squad finally got their season restarted on Friday after several postponements because of the weather.

VanHooser, a senior, had 20 assists and 10 digs on Friday but the Bethel Lady Wildcats fell at 15th-ranked Lindsey Wilson 3-1 in Mid-South Conference action, 25-19, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16.

On Saturday, Bethel lost to conference foe Life University in a home match in McKenzie, Tenn. Life won in three sets, 26-24, 26-24, 25-22.

Van Hooser had 12 assists and 11 digs in that match.

Bethel dropped to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the MSC.

Bethel played three matches in the fall. The school was originally slated to return to action Feb. 11 but had four matches postponed.

The Lady Wildcats next host the Cumberland University Phoenix Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Van Hooser was the 2016 2nd Region Player of the Year at Caldwell County and graduated as the school’s all-time leader in set assists. She is now second on that list.
