KHSAA Announces Postseason Wrestling Sites and State Tourney Formats

3-2-wrestle

The KHSAA continues to release more details about the wrestling postseason with the four semistate locations announced.

COVID-19 restrictions have altered the format for the 2021 wrestling postseason.  The Region I Meet will be held Saturday, March 13 at Union County High School. The top eight at the region meet will move on to Apollo High School for the first round of the state meet on March 20 and be grouped with wrestlers from Region 2.

The first round will be conducted as a full-wrestleback (consolation to 3rd place) format in each weight class. The top two from each weight class bracket at each first-round site will then advance to the final state round.  Each school will carry its team points acquired during the first round forward to factor into the team standings

The final state round will be held at George Rogers Clark High School on March 27.

The KHSAA will allow spectators but said all events will be held within the most restrictive of state and local COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions, including an absolute requirement of universal masking of all except for the competitors in action at the time and social distancing to the fullest extent possible.
