Capacity Set at 400 for 2021 8th District Tournaments

A few hundred parents and fans will be able to attend the 8th District tournaments which will get underway Monday night. Details of this year’s tournaments were formally locked into place following a meeting of coaches and athletic directors Wednesday morning at Hopkinsville High School, which will be hosting the boys’ and girls’ tournaments in 2021.

Action gets underway with the boys’ semifinal matchup between University Heights (8-9) and Christian County (0-10) Monday night. UHA won both games between the two this season, picking up a 67-56 win on the road, and a 65-45 win two nights later in Blazer Gym.

The boys’ championship game is set for Wednesday, March 17. Top-seeded Hopkinsville (6-3) will play the winner of the UHA-Christian County game for the 8th District title.

On the girls’ side, action will begin Tuesday night with the semifinal round game between Hopkinsville (1-8) and University Heights (1-14). The two teams did not play during the course of the regular season.

The girls’ championship contest will be Thursday night. Christian County (5-9), the top-seed in the 8th District, will take on the winner of the game between Hopkinsville and UHA.

All games in the 8th District tournament are set to start each evening at 6:30 pm at Hopkinsville High School.

As for the attendance policies for the tournament, the total capacity will be 400 people per night. Tickets to the tournament will be sold through GoFan. Each player will be allowed up to 4 tickets for family members, with each team to be sent a private GoFan link to allow family members the first opportunities to get tickets.

After that, a public link for each team will be announced to allow a number of fans of each school to buy tickets for the games. Officials are hopeful to have around 110 to 120 fan tickets available for each school on the night their team plays.

There will be no cheerleaders, band, or dance teams allowed at the 2021 8th District tournament.

Concessions will be available on both the upper and lower levels of the arena.
