Trigg County’s Tyler Jacobs, Anthony Hall, and Andrew Hendricks each won a pair of matches on the way to 5th-place finishes at Saturday’s 1st Region wrestling tournament at Union County High School.

The Wildcats finished 10th with 35.5 points, with Union County taking its 18th-straight region title with 275 points.

7th-grader Lilly Hull dropped a pair of matches at 106 lbs, with fellow middle schooler and girls’ state champion Makenna Hendricks also finishing 0-2.

Junior Andrew Wilson lost his opener to eventual 120 lb runner-up Parker McKee of McCracken County and followed with a loss in his next match.  Junior Jack Lingenfelter also fell in his first two matches at 160 lbs.

Junior Timmy Cannon dropped his first match by fall at 126 lbs to Union County’s Lucas Rickets, who went on to finish 3rd.  Cannon received a bye in his next match before falling to Caldwell County’s Cofy Walls and ending his day with a loss in the 5th-place match.

Eventual 132 lb runner-up, Caldwell’s Riley Johnson, handed Trigg sophomore Tyler Jacobs a loss in his first match before he bounced back with a win by fall over Henderson’s Vinson Embry.  A setback followed in Jacob’s next match, but he found his way back into the 5th-place match where he beat Ohio County’s Gunnar Arnold by fall.

At 170 lbs, sophomore Anthony Hall recovered from a loss in his opener with a win by fall over Hopkinsville’s Jaden Unger.  Paducah Tilghman’s Christopher Mooney topped Hall by fall on the way to a 3rd-place finish, sending Hall to the 5th-place match.  He made quick work of Calloway’s Karsen Starks with a pin in just 1:37.

Sophomore Andrew Hendricks started his tournament with a win by fall over Henderson’s Conner Lander at 285 lbs.  After taking an early lead, Hendricks fell to eventual champion Ty-Darius Kelly of Christian County but recovered with a second victory over Henderson’s Lander to capture 5th-place.
