The Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons will play for their third-straight 7th District title on Friday after holding off host Caldwell County 57-54 Thursday night.

Madisonville (5-8) will take on Hopkins County Central (9-7) for the district championship at 6 p.m. at the CAB gym. The Lady Storm routed Dawson Springs 64-28 in Thursday’s first semifinal contest.

The Lady Tigers led Madisonville for much of the first three quarters before falling behind 49-43 with just under 6 minutes to go.

An 11-0 run helped the Lady Maroons turn a five-point deficit into a six-point lead.

Caldwell battled back to tie it at 53-53 on a Jacey Jaggers 3-pointer with 2:41 to play.

But the Lady Tigers could never get the lead back as the Lady Maroons made just enough free throws to hold on for the three-point.

Eighth grader Riley Sword had 20 points for Madisonville while sophomore Amari Lovan had 17.

Senior Jacey Jaggers had 20 points to lead the Lady Tigers while eighth grader Katy Smiley had 13.

Caldwell’s girls finish the season at 8-12.

The Lady Maroons also took the regular-season matchup with Caldwell, winning 70-62 in overtime in Madisonville.
