Lady Rockets Dig Out of 6-0 Hole to Defeat Caldwell 18-9

The Caldwell County Lady Tiger softball team got off to a strong start at Crittenden County on Monday, scoring six runs in the top of the first inning.

However, Crittenden County came back to claim an 18-9 decision in that contest at the Marion City-County Park.

Each side had 18 base hits on Monday. But the Lady Rockets were able to create more runs with theirs.

Caldwell (1-3) led 8-6 after scoring twice in the top of the third. But Crittenden (1-3) took the lead for good with four runs in the bottom of the third.

A five-run sixth inning helped the Lady Rockets put the game away at 18-9.

Matthia Long was 4-for-5 with a home run, double and three runs batted in to lead Crittenden. Jessie Potter was 3-for-3 and drove in three while Kalli Champion went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Ashlyn Hicks was 2-for-4 with a homer.

Chandler Moss tossed all seven innings to get the win in the circle for the Lady Rockets. She allowed eight earned runs.

For Caldwell, Rylee Thompson was 4-for-4 at the plate while Brylee Butts was 3-for-4 and A.J. Hollowell 3-for-5. Alicia Stanley was 2-for-4 and drove in four runs while Allie Felker went 2-for-5 and knocked in three.

The Lady Tigers had taken their last three meetings with Crittenden. Caldwell still holds a 39-11 lead all-time against the Lady Rockets.

The Lady Tigers are off until the 2nd Region All A Classic next week.
