It did not take long for Christian County to exact revenge on University Heights. One night after the Christian County Colonels lost to University Heights Academy for the first time since the 2014 baseball season, the Colonels got their measure of revenge on the Blazers’ home field. Christian County got a big night on the mound from junior hurler Elijah Underhill, and the Colonels’ offense had its biggest night since April of 2019 en route to a 17-2 six-inning win over UHA Friday night.

Underhill was in a groove from the very beginning of the game on the mound. He held the Blazers hitless until the bottom of the 4th inning when Ian Tyler reached base on a single. Underhill would finish the game going 4 2/3 innings, giving up just two earned runs on two hits, striking out nine, while walking four. Preston Phan would close out the game in relief as Underhill appeared to tire out just a bit in the bottom of the 5th inning.

On offense, the Colonels would score all the runs they needed in the top of the second inning when they pushed five runs across the plate. Christian County scored the five runs on two hits. The big hit in the inning was an RBI double off the bat of Houston George.

The Colonels would add a run in the third on a stolen base, a wild pitch, and a throwing error. Christian County scored three more in the top of the fourth and added two in the top of the 5th to take an 11-0 lead.

UHA kept the game going for another inning by scoring two runs in the bottom of the 5th inning. Ty Hunt drove in two runs with a single to send the game into the sixth inning.

The Colonels then dropped the hammer to finish the game out, scoring six runs in the top of the sixth to move the lead out to 17-2. Christian County took advantage of four walks and two hit batters to set up the big inning.

Preston Phan then set the Blazers down in order in the bottom of the inning to end the game.

Patrick Liddell had a huge game at the plate for Christian County, going 3-4 with a double, four RBIs, and a run scored. Elijah Underhill helped his own cause by going 2-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Houston George and Brylle Javier each had two hits and two RBIs for the Colonels.

Ty Hunt was 1-3 with two RBIs for UHA. Ian Tyler had the only other hit in the game for University Heights.

Christian County picks up their first win of the season to go to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in district play. The loss drops UHA to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the 8th District.
