Do not expect Grant Bingham to even consider flipping his commitment from UK

Even though he’s verbally committed to Kentucky, Johnson Central offensive lineman Grant Bingham likely will continue to get calls from recruiters across the country. When you are 6-6, 300 pounds and can run the 40-yard dash in 5.0 seconds or faster — not to mention having a 4.0 grade-point average — college recruiters are not going to back off due to a verbal commitment.

“Speaking to Grant the other day he is 100 percent confident in his decision with Kentucky,” said Johnson Central assistant coach Justin Arms. “I don’t believe he will be entertaining anything else (offer-wise) but we all know when players commit they often end up picking up more attention and have coaches trying to get them to flip.

“That will not be the case with Grant. He is 100 percent committed to staying home and playing for Kentucky.”

Bingham played in the 2019 state championship game when Johnson Central beat Boyle County in the Class 4A state title game.

Last season Johnson Central did not play a game in the central Kentucky area but this season the Golden Eagles will be easier for UK fans in central Kentucky to see. Bingham and his teammates will play in Lexington twice.

“We are going to be playing in two bowl games. I know we are playing in Lexington Catholic’s bowl and I know we are in one more bowl game in Lexington, so it should be pretty easy for Big Blue fans to see Grant play this season. We hope a lot of fans will come out to see him and our team play,” Arms said.
