Crittenden Slides Past Blazers Into All A Region Championship

Crittenden County scored eight runs in the fifth inning to erase a two-run deficit and beat University Heights Academy 10-5 Tuesday in the All A Classic baseball semifinals in Dawson Springs.

The Rockets advance to Thursday night’s championship game.

Crittenden County broke the game open with six hits, three walks, and two errors in the fifth. Logan Bailey, Case Gobin, and Caden McCalister all had RBI doubles as the Rockets sent 13 batters to the plate in the inning.

UHA got two runs back in the sixth inning with two outs. Ian Tyler and John DeArmond singled, and Cole Glover drove them home with a single.

The Blazers took a 3-1 lead on an Easton Glover RBI single in the first. Glover added an RBI single in the third, and Ty Hunt added a run-scoring hit in the fifth.

UHA had 13 hits in the contest with Hunt collecting four, including a double. Eston Glover, Seth Hancock, and DeArmond each had a pair of hits.

However, the Blazers committed six errors in the field, had two runners thrown out trying to steal and four runners gunned down on the basepaths.

Ian Tyler struck out six and allowed just two earned runs in 4.2 innings to absorb the loss.

Gabe Mott had two of Crittenden County’s eight hits. Maddux Carlson got the win on the mound, giving up five earned runs and striking out four in 5.2 innings.

Crittenden County [5-2] moves into Thursday’s All A region title game.

UHA [5-6] will make the long road trip to Hancock County Friday.
