Strong Mound Effort Sends Blazers to Third Straight Loss

4-17-stone

Taylor Lowhorn pitched a three-hit shutout and drove in three runs at the plate to lead Franklin-Simpson to a 10-0 win over University Heights Academy Saturday at the Kelly Russell Classic in Russellville.

The Wildcat junior struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter as Franklin-Simpson improved to 5-5.

Two-run singles by Luke Richardson and Skyler Martinez highlighted a five-run first inning for the Wildcats.

Franklin-Simpson added two runs in the second on a double by Justin Jones and a single by Jake Konow.

Dawson Owens smacked a two-run homer in the fifth inning to get the Wildcats to the mercy rule threshold. By that time, Lawhorn was in complete control.  He allowed singles to Cole Glover, Luke Welch, and Eston Glover. The Blazers only got two runners into scoring position twice in the five-inning contest.

UHA has dropped three straight games since knocking off Lyon County in the first round of the All A Classic region tournament.

Now 5-8, the Blazers will host Hickman County Monday.
