Elijah Underhill homered on the second pitch of the game to back the pitching of Houston George and send Christian County to a 6-1 win at Trigg County Tuesday.

Underhill finished with two hits and four RBIs for the Colonels, who picked up their second win in 10 games and eighth win in nine games over the Wildcats.

George allowed just five hits in 6.1 innings and no earned runs. He walked four and struck out four and was the beneficiary of some good defense behind him.  George lowered his season ERA from 2.52 to 1.43.

Josh Snorton also had two hits and an RBI for the Colonels, who outhit Trigg 6-5.

Tyler Ahart and Hunter Reynolds each had two hits for the Wildcats, and Trevor Terrell added a double.  Jay Humphries drove in Trigg’s lone run in the seventh inning on a groundout.

Isaac Peca allowed three earned runs and five hits in six innings.  He struck out nine and walked just one despite being tagged with the loss.

The game began with sunshine and 68 degrees but a cold front that moved through brought with it windy conditions throughout and saw the temperature drop 23 degrees by the game’s end.

Christian County will host Fort Campbell in an 8th District matchup Wednesday at Colonel Field, while Trigg County [4-5] will host Livingston Central Thursday in a 5th District encounter.
