Lady Rebels Basketball Holds End of Season Banquet

The Todd County Central girls’ basketball team held its end of season banquet on Wednesday at the school, wrapping up a 7-13 season that ended with a loss Franklin-Simpson in the 13th District tournament.

First-year head coach Lee Quarles recognized 6 players, including Defensive Player of the Year and Todd Central 100% Awards to the Lady Rebels’ lone senior Jayla Leavell.  Leavell averaged just under 2 points per game and was 3rd on the team in rebounding with 5.6 per game.

The other five awards all went to underclassmen.  Sophomore Lucy Chester received the Rebound Award with a total of 163, 10.2 per game.  She also led the team in points with 12.2 per outing.  Sophomore Ciara Collins took home the Assist Award, and fellow 1oth-grader Jamaia Coleman earned Most Improved after averaging 4 points per contest.

Freshman Abby Williams won the Free Throw Percentage Award with a team-high 56/75 made at a 74.7% clip, while also being 2nd on the team in scoring at just over 11 points per game.

8th-Grader Alexis Taylor was recognized for the Best Field Goal Percentage, connecting on a team-high 85 baskets on 41.9% shooting.  She was 3rd in scoring with just under 11 points per game.
