Late Explosion Sends Calloway County Past Trigg

Calloway County scored 10 runs in the final two innings to hand Trigg County a 14-4 loss Tuesday at the Complex.

The Lakers broke open a 4-4 tie with a six-run sixth inning. A double, Trigg error, and an infield single loaded the bases.  After an RBI walk by Braden Pingel, Cadwell Turner cleared the bases with a double to left. Isaac Ward scored Turner on an RBI single.

Trigg County struggled in the field, committing five errors that led to six unearned runs.

Turner finished with two hits and five RBIs.  Ward had three hits, including a home run, and three runs knocked in for Calloway.

Joe Peca had two of Trigg County’s seven hits, which were all singles. Greyson Grissom also had two hits for the Wildcats.

Peca and Bryce Cunningham each had RBI singles in the first inning to stake Trigg to a 2-0 lead.

Ward’s two-run homer in the third inning gave Calloway a 3-2 lead.

Calloway County’s season record stands at 9-6.

Trigg County fell to 5-8 with its third straight loss and will travel to Crittenden County Thursday.
