A pair of former Caldwell County football standouts have been named to the 2021 Kentucky Collegiate All Commonwealth Team.

Dee Cain at Western Kentucky University and Jaylen Boyd at Lindsey Wilson College have been chosen for the squad, the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame announced on Friday.

The Kentucky Collegiate All Commonwealth Team is a preseason recognition award for football players attending a Kentucky college or university. They represent the best college football players that the state of Kentucky has to offer while their dedication to the game has contributed significantly to their teams. The player shall have the distinctive responsibility to lead his teammates in the classroom and on the field.

Boyd’s “2020” football season is still going at Lindsey Wilson College. The Blue Raiders (9-0) will host Keiser (Florida, 9-0) in an NAIA national semifinal playoff game Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in Columbia. The winner plays in the NAIA championship game on Monday, May 10, at Eddie G. Robinson Stadium in Grambling, La.

Boyd is Lindsey Wilson’s all-time leading rusher. He broke the school record for career rushing yards in the first round of the playoffs. Boyd now has 2,337 yards on the ground with the Blue Raiders.

Meanwhile, Cain has appeared in 35 games for Western Kentucky over the past four seasons, producing 26 total tackles (15 solo, 11 assisted) — including 1.5 for loss — with one sack, four quarterback hurries and two pass breakups. After redshirting in 2016, he suffered season-ending injuries in both 2017 (after nine contests) and 2018 (after four contests).

Despite the injuries, Cain returned to the field to play in 22 games over the past two years at linebacker and has been a key member on special teams units.

Both Boyd and Cain will play as sixth-year seniors this fall.

Sixty-six players were listed on the All Commonwealth Team.

Those players will be recognized during the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame 2021 Induction Ceremony, which will be televised in central Kentucky on Lexington’s WTVQ Channel 36 on June 25 at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The Hall of Fame ceremony will be available across all social media outlets.
