Even With Win Streak and All A Title, Lyon Still On the Outside of Coaches’ Poll

5-4-collins

An All A Classic state softball championship and nine-game winning streak still aren’t enough for Lyon County to crack the state softball coaches’ association’s top-25 poll.

The Lady Lyons received 80 votes, which was 44 fewer than No. 25 Anderson County in the latest poll released Monday.

Lyon County won its 10th straight game of the season Monday over Trigg County hours after the weekly poll was released.

The only Class A team to be ranked in the poll was Green County at No. 23. They didn’t even advance out of their All A region after losing to unranked Bethlehem.

Only two Second Region teams are ranked in the Coaches’ Top 25.  Henderson County is No. 8 and Christian County is No. 15.  Webster County, who 2-11, is the only other region team to receive a vote.

South Warren is No. 1 in the poll followed by Lafayette, Ballard, Butler, and Boyle County.  McCracken County is No. 6, and Marshall County is No. 18.
