During his talk at the Louisville Quarterback Club Friday, Kentucky recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow said something he admits he may never say again in public.

“I love it when Louisville (football) does well,” said Marrow.

No, he was not playing to his audience.

“I want both (Kentucky and Louisville) to do well. It’s good for the state. I am a fan of Louisville, too,” Marrow said.

He explained it was good for high school football in Kentucky when both UK and Louisville were winning.

“They have a good coach (Scott Satterfield),” Marrow said. “I really like him and he is going to get it going.”

Then Marrow made sure Big Blue Nation he was not senile.

“That will be the only time you hear me say that,” he laughed and said.

However, he will keep saying what he said later.

“We are at the point in the program now where it is time to go to Atlanta (for the SEC championship game),” Marrow said. “We should now get Georgia. The schedule (next season) in a way will be in our favor.

“In 2018 we were in that position but were not ready for that moment (against Georgia). The way our roster is now, we are ready for that moment.”

He looked at redshirt freshman quarterback Beau Allen, the 2019 Paul Hornung Award who was also at Friday’s event and said if the quarterback situation was good, he really liked next year’s team.

“What I saw in spring (practice), I really feel good about where we are going this year. I really do,” Marrow said.

“I really do believe Kentucky football is at the point where that ain’t no jokes anymore. Days of jokes about Kentucky football are over. The head man (Mark Stoops) I really have a lot of respect for. Look at the last couple of drafts and I think we will have more (draft picks) next year. We ain’t going to take a backseat to no one.”
