Chapman Fans 19 Lady Wildcats in Murray Win

Kylie Chapman struck out 19 batters and limited Trigg County to three hits in a 7-0 Murray win over the Lady Wildcats Tuesday.

Chapman got 12 strikeouts swinging and seven more looking.  She fanned the final five batters of the game and eight of the last 10.

The Murray freshman increased her season strikeout total to 141 in 85 innings and lowered her season ERA to 1.56.

Murray struck for three runs in the first inning and two more in both the third and fourth innings. Emily Dawson plated the first run of the game with a single, and Marlee Riddle added two more with a single.

Riddle and Layne Latimer had RBI singles in the third inning to increase the Murray lead to 5-0, and Makenzie Turley added a two-run inside-the-park home run in the fourth inning.

Turley and Riddle each had three hits for Murray, who ran its season record to 9-5.

MaKenna Hendricks, Ashlynn Koch, and Kara Hyde had singles for Trigg County, who started six middle schoolers.

The Lady Wildcats [4-11] will host Hopkinsville Friday at the Complex.
