Travis Yancy and Jackson Shoulders blasted home runs in a 6-run 5th inning to help the Lyon County Lyons put the finishing touches on a 13-3 win over visiting Livingston Central on Tuesday night.

The Lyons earn their fourth-straight win to improve to 16-4 and stay unbeaten in 5th District play.  The Cardinals slip to 3-15 and are winless against district competition.

Making his first start of the season on the mound for the Lyons, Beau Wilson allowed no runs and only a single hit through the first four frames.  Wilson enjoyed run support from the start, with Shoulders drawing a bases-loaded walk and Aidan Rush singling to bring in a run in the 1st inning for a 2-0 lead.

Lyon County doubled the advantage in the 2nd on a bases-loaded hit by pitch and an RBI single by Shoulders.  They loaded the bases again in the 3rd and Yancy and Rush delivered run-scoring singles for a 7-0 score.

However, the Cardinals took advantage of three walks, a hit by pitch, and an error to get on the board in the top of the 3rd, with Luke Vinson singling in the third run to cut the margin to 4.

That would be all the offense Livingston could muster, and Gunnar Bingham led off the Lyons’ half of the 5th with a triple to kickstart a 6-run surge.  The first run came in on an error ahead of back-to-back home runs by Yancy and Shoulders.

Brady Darnall brought in a run with a sharp line drive to left field and the final runner crossed the plate on the Cardinals’ second error of the game.

Yancy was 3/3 and drove in 4 runs, Shoulders was 2/3 with 3 RBI, and Rush and Brody Williams each had 2 hits.  Wilson pitched all 5 innings for the win, allowing 3 runs, 1 earned, on 3 hits with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts.

Aiden Fugate took the loss, yielding 4 earned runs on 4 hits with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts.  Carter Ray worked the final 2.1 innings, allowing 9 runs, 7 earned, on 6 hits with 5 walks and a strikeout.
