Todd County Central senior catcher Ethan Bicksler is set to follow in the footsteps of two older brothers who played college sports when he joins the Midway University baseball team next year.  However, right now, Bicksler is focused on his role in what is shaping up to be the best season of Rebel baseball in over 20 years.

Bicksler has been central to the program’s turnaround over his four seasons. The Rebels combined for 9 wins over his freshman and sophomore seasons before emerging from the pandemic with a team on a mission.

One of only two seniors, Bicksler leads the Rebels in runs scored (29), and is 2nd in hits (19), walks (16), and stolen bases (8/9).  His 13 RBI are 3rd and he’s only struck out 5 times in 59 at-bats.

The next step for the Rebels would be a breakthrough in the 13th District tournament, with the last win there coming in a run to the title as a 4-seed in 2004.

Bicksler says the Rebels must overcome a mental hurdle against Logan County and Franklin-Simpson to ignite a postseason run and also shed some light on one of the more unique walk-up songs around.
