UHA senior Tomas Duncan is “running off” to the Carolinas, so to say. Duncan officially signed his letter of intent Thursday afternoon to run track and cross country at Coastal Carolina.

Coastal Carolina is an NCAA Division I school that competes in the Big South Conference.

Duncan, who is the most decorated runner in University Heights’ history, is a multiple All-State selection in cross country and repeated as the Area 1 Class A Runner of the Year by the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association in 2020.

He finished in the top five of seven of the eight cross country invitationals he entered in 2020. In addition to winning the Warren East Invitational, Duncan won the region title for the fourth straight year. He finished fourth at the Class 1A State Meet for the second straight year, marking the best finish ever for a Blazer runner.

Duncan also holds three school records in track and field.
