For the second consecutive night, the Christian County Lady Colonels have struggled to get their offense going against a 1st Region opponent. Tuesday night, the Lady Colonels got a first-inning home run from Reni Shemwell and that would be it for the night as Christian County fell to Marshall County 7-1.

Freshman pitcher Gracelyn Darnall shut the Lady Colonels’ offense out for the rest of the night as she went the distance allowing seven hits, striking out none, but not allowing a walk over seven innings of work.

Meanwhile, the Lady Marshals’ offense did all of its damage in a two-inning span, plating four runs in the top of the fourth and three more in the top of the 5th. Marshall County roughed up Christian County pitching for 12 hits in the game. Ten of those hits came in the two innings where the Lady Marshals scored all seven of their runs.

Reni Shemwell continued her big season for Christian County. She finished the night 2-3 with a home run, an RBI, and a run scored. Chloe Craft was 2-3 with a pair of singles. Tenley Gilbert, Gracie Harned, and Riley Hancock had a hit apiece for Christian County.

Gracie Harned gave the Lady Colonels some solid work coming out of the bullpen. Harned pitched the last 2 1/3-innings of the game, giving up no runs on two hits, walking one.

The Lady Marshals truly had a team effort in the game as eight of the starters had at least one hit in the contest.

With the loss, Christian County falls to 18-9 on the year. They are set to return to action Thursday evening when they host Calloway County.
