Lady Falcons No Match for Owensboro in Twin Bill Sweep

Closing out their regular-season slate with a doubleheader against visiting Owensboro on Saturday, the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons were dumped in both meetings by scores of 19-1 and 16-1.

Owensboro’s Brooklyn Keller shut down the Lady Falcons in the opener, yielding only two hits and a run with three strikeouts.  Danika Gonzalez and Alexsa Hoffman provided the only hits for Fort Campbell.

Lindsey Gibson had a monster game with five hits and eight RBI, including a grand slam in the top of the 5th to round out the Lady Devil scoring.

Kirsten Tindle had a hit and three RBI and Paige Hughes was 3/3 with two runs driven in.

Kiley McCrary took the loss in the circle, pitching one and a third and surrendering ten runs, eight earned, with three walks and a pair of strikeouts.  Carrie McCrary worked two and two thirds, allowing five earned runs on nine hits with five walks and a strikeout.  Hoffman worked the 5th, giving up four earned runs on three hits with three walks.

With the sun beating down and the temperature rising, the teams took the field for a second matchup that would follow a familiar script.  The Lady Falcons were only outhit 11-7, but nine walks issued proved to be the difference.

Hoffman took the loss on the mound, allowing eight earned runs on a hit with six walks.  Carrie McCrary surrendered seven earned runs on nine hits with three walks and a strikeout, and Gonzalez worked the third, yielding a run on a hit with two walks and a strikeout.

Hoffman’s two hits led the Lady Falcons at the plate, followed by Velez, Jordan Wilkerson, Carrie McCrary, Anika Weisbrich, and Oliva Conner with a hit each.

Tindle picked up the win for Owensboro, allowing an unearned run on seven hits with a strikeout.  Paige Hughes finished 3/3 at the plate with three runs scored and four RBI.
